LED Rückleuchten Retrofit for Audi A6 4F Saloon (Articles)

LED brake lights on the Audi A6 4F saloon up to and including the 2007 model year can be easily upgraded by replacing the standard rear lights with the Highline version.

Warning: Highline taillights only have one LED brake light; the remaining lights are still standard incandescent bulbs!

Since the original taillights are prone to cracking and water ingress, replacing them with the Highline variant with LED brake lights is a good option.

Activation of the LED brake light: Using VCDS in the Comfort Control (address 46), code the Highline taillights, i.e. add 131072 to the previous coding.

Advantages: - LED Brake Light, - Looks better.
Disadvantage: - None.

Why only one reverse light works in the Highline version: This is normal. Diligent DIY enthusiasts can change the wiring harness by disconnecting the existing connection for the left reverse light and extending it to the intended right side. Although the left taillight has a white opening (like the right reverse light), there is no bulb provided inside. Consequently, only the right light can illuminate.

If you want a complete LED lighting solution, you'll need to purchase fixtures from a specialist retailer, such as Dectane.

From the 2008 (facelift) model year onwards, LED taillights are standard, but they have a different shape. Therefore, they cannot be used for retrofitting.

Installing additional taillights is actually quite simple if you know how. To do this, remove the side panels on the left and right in the trunk and loosen the corresponding screws for the taillights. Unfortunately, it may still be the case that the lamp cannot be pulled out, so if necessary, use wiggling movements and a small plastic wedge to assist.
The plastic wedge must be pushed forward between the taillight and the panel.
