Hi
I can't provide any specific numbers, log files, or any kind of identification numbers. I went to my trusted mechanic and played around with his laptop – mostly just to read the error codes.
Then I came across the mentioned function and displayed the 'graph' for the EGR target (red) and actual (green) values, and I accelerated a few times. As I wrote before, I noticed that the red curve (target value) is higher than the green curve (actual value). I just wanted to know if that's normal...
The car drives great and has good performance. The camshafts are not an issue since it's a 2004 model and the engine code starts with 'B'. I seem to have a trouble-free V6 TDI engine, and I love this engine – both the 2.5-liter version in my A6 and the 3.0-liter version in my Touareg.
I also can't imagine that worn-out valve springs would manifest as a low actual EGR value, because that would more likely result in a lack of power at higher RPMs, as the amount of air being drawn in, and therefore the amount of fuel being injected, would be too low due to the valves not opening fully?
'No offense, the car is running great, and I'm not getting worked up about it. It's probably normal that, during brief bursts of full throttle at idle, the EGR valve doesn't quite reach its target closing position.'
Greetings.
Björn.
