I once experimented with the original workshop controller to see what alternative programs could be used with my "Bummsmurmel" (a playful, possibly self-invented term).
1. The headlight system activates fully with a power-on delay in the double-digit second range. Everything turns on, including the parking lights, license plate lights, and instrument panel illumination. The headlight switch is practically useless; with the ignition off and the engine idling, you can only manually turn on the parking lights or the full headlights. Any installed light sensor will be rendered ineffective. Driving with daytime running lights is not possible. This coding is pre-programmed by the factory in all current Peugeot/Citroen models and should not be changed, as it is part of the manufacturer's approval certificate.
2. With the same activation delay, only the low beam headlights are activated. The reverse lights, parking lights, license plate lights, and instrument panel lighting remain off. The light switch retains its original function, and any installed light sensor will also function as intended. It is possible to drive with only the parking lights on; in this case, the low beam headlights will turn off. A dimming function for the low beam headlights is selectable in the system, but the factory setting is 100%. -> This coding was previously used in countries with mandatory headlight use, provided it was permissible there. Among other things, it was used for Austria.
3. Same coding as option 2, but with dimmed high beams. The default setting is 60%, but 70% and 80% can also be selected. The headlight switch and any light sensor retain their original function, and the dimmed high beams turn off when the headlights are turned on. It is possible to drive with only the parking lights on. Only in this coding option is the "parking lights via front turn signals" function available. The parking light function is preset to 30% dimming, but can be adjusted to 40%, 50%, or 60%. Here, the standard European daytime running light becomes ineffective. This coding is intended for individual markets in North and South America, as well as for Japan.
However, all the coding information was only available if the electrical components were supplied by Siemens and if the vehicle was a Peugeot from the model year 2004 or later, or a Citroen from the model year 2005 or later. If the electrical components were supplied by Magneti Marelli, the third coding option was not available. Coding possibility.
I took a picture of it while testing it out. However, T-Mobile disrupted my internet access by changing the SIM card at the beginning of the month, and the replacement SIM card hasn't been activated yet.
