"Occasionally, due to the load in my VW Caddy (year 2008), I can't fully close the tailgate. This triggers an annoying warning sound every time I start the engine. Sometimes it happens when the tailgate is only latched, and on bumpy roads, the warning sound continues incessantly, which is very irritating. I would be satisfied with a simple "tailgate open" indicator on the display." Is there a way to disable the sound in the encoding process?
You must have secured the lid somehow so that it doesn't open completely.
Simply engage the bolt (or the key blade) into the door latch mechanism twice, and then the Caddy will think it has the rear end locked.
Before closing the door after unloading, make sure to pull the release handle first; otherwise, it will slam shut with a loud bang when you close the door onto the lock.
The luxury version:
Place a climbing carabiner in your lap and then use the carabiner to secure the gate.
You're welcome, dieselmartin.
It's a good idea overall, especially the part about the carabiner, great! My next purchase: a carabiner hook!
I hadn't even thought of that, but if the lock isn't fully engaged, this version no longer works. I would prefer a complete shutdown.
Does anyone have any advice?
...and if the connector is disconnected, you may also generate error messages, and any potentially installed vehicle communication system may also be out of function.
In my opinion, the solution using a double locking mechanism or, more specifically, a carabiner, is the most optimal for occasional transport, as it eliminates the error message. I think it's suboptimal to go through the trouble of unplugging it – there are too many disadvantages.
