Hello,
The original engine is a 2.0L TDI with engine code BPW, from an Audi A4, manufactured in 2006.
The engine to be installed is a 2.0L TDI with engine code BMN, from a VW Passat manufactured in 2006.

My question:

Audi crankshaft position sensor (CKP) located in the engine block, sensor wheel on the crankshaft.
Passat OT sensor on the front cover, clutch side; sensor disc inside the front cover.

Can the OT (output torque) signal from the BMN motor be processed in the Audi?

Thank you in advance for your help.

It is processed by the engine control unit. You need to install this (in addition to the engine wiring harness), and then it will work. icon_wink.gif

Thank you for the response.
But that's exactly what I wanted to avoid.
The BPW Audimotor receives two signals per kilowatt revolution (two tooth gaps offset by 180 degrees on the encoder disc).
I have no idea about the BMN Passat engine.

You don't need any special knowledge. Just install the wiring harness and control unit that are compatible with the engine, and everything will work icon_wink.gif.

Okay, then I will do it that way.

Thank you again.

If you modify the engine control unit (ECU), you will likely encounter problems with the immobilizer system, and the programming process will not work.

Thank you for the response.
I think I'm going to sit down again and carefully consider whether it wouldn't be more sensible to have the engine repaired.

Audi/VW will certainly adjust that for you at a very affordable price icon_wink.gif.

I don't think they can do that. icon_lol.gif

The only option is to turn off the WFS (Immo OFF) icon_smile.gif, and then it should work. However, it needs to be tested to see how compatible the other control units are, such as the gateway, combination instrument, ABS, and ESP. You would also need to check the CAN BUS IDs, etc.

Certainly, Audi can use the tester to reprogram the immobilizer icon_wink.gif.

Yes, Audi can use the tester to reprogram the immobilizer icon_wink.gif.

Since there are different performance levels, I wouldn't generalize it like that. icon_lol.gif icon_cool.gif icon_wink.gif
