HI.

Can someone explain the difference between the standard parts "1K0129618BQ" and "1K0129618BJ", or better yet, show me a picture?

The part number 1K0129618BJ is the "anti-kink intake manifold" connecting the throttle body to the air filter housing.

Thank you.

A first suspect:

It looks like the hose from a Volkswagen Golf 2 diesel engine (JP).

Another one that reinforces the suspicion:

Hello dieselmartin,

As I see, you're working on the BLS again. What do you hope to achieve with this revision?
Another question is whether straightening the hose section, as well as the plastic pipe starting from the 90-degree bend above the alternator, would be beneficial. I'm hoping for a "faster" response at low RPMs and/or after gear changes.
For example, through the fraternal sharing of parts (see first suspect)...

Hi.

I don't think the "bow" and the "accordion" make a difference.
In the 140 hp BMP Passat, they were even mixed and matched, with some having one type of component and others having a different type.

The "cotton" tube in the BLS (presumably referring to a specific device) primarily serves to dampen suction noises.

But our BLS doesn't whine; it only rumbles a bit when you really push it, meaning when you rev it up just above the minimum stable speed and then demand full torque.
Just typical for a city. But that's more likely due to this: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=25124&highlight=pendelst%FCtze

Okay, thank you.

I was almost certain that the flexible hose was more of a superficial improvement. If anything, one should probably opt for aftermarket parts from companies like Samco, or extend hoses taken from the BKC engine.

My question about the piece of paper was also answered well by Google. icon_wink.gif What do we/I learn from this? First read, then post.
Besides that, I want to install the intake manifold and air filter housing from the VR6 models. This is also why I'm searching online again for information about intakes, and that's how I came across your thread.

Why would anyone want to renovate something at the BLS?

The small turbocharger has the same "environment" as the 1.5 bar GT1749VC turbocharger with its boost pressure system. And even that one gets enough air thanks to it.

Then it's better to replace the air filter more often, even if the recommended replacement interval hasn't been reached yet.

At first glance (we've only had the 3C for a few days), I would say that at least the diameter varies. I want to modify it because the turbine has to do more work thanks to the adjusted engine control, which may alleviate some of its "suction effort." You probably know the background by heart, but I'll refer to it again for the other readers: https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=6593.

What is the diameter?
Since BLS/BKC engines use counterflow designs and the BMR engine uses a crossflow design, the piping from the turbocharger onwards is significantly different anyway.

After the LMM (likely referring to a specific standard or regulation), both BLS and BMR have the same type of spring band attachment, so there won't be any difference between them in that regard.

A modified BLS will certainly not produce more suction than a standard BMR.

You won't be able to use parts from a 3C-V6 engine because it has the air filter where other models have the battery, which means you would need to relocate the battery, adding even more work.
Apparently, the same applies to the Volkswagen Golf 5.

It seems I recall that the diameter up to the air filter box is larger on the BMR model. I'll measure it tonight to confirm...

I am aware of the battery in the trunk, and it's a side effect that I desire. The effort involved is clear, and the benefit is theoretically also clear, but it can't hurt either. icon_wink.gif
If I have the time, I would like to accompany this process with measurements. To that end, I have the option of using a MPST (Multi-Point Surface Temperature) sensor. In order for a "natural" charging effect to occur through the airflow, the charger can only provide supplemental power and potentially shift the smoke boundary. Common sense dictates that up/down and left/right movements are not conducive to good airflow.

But the filters are identical – and they certainly offer more resistance than a small piece of pipe.

Wow, that's exactly how it is!

The "stuff" *before* the filter is extremely important for water separation. And if you look at the "dirt marks" inside, you can see that it works wonderfully.

The piping after the turbo is simply a consequence of using large front-mounted intercoolers.
However, they compensate for this with pleasant intake air temperatures of 4-18 Kelvin above the outside temperature.
A Volkswagen Golf 3 1Z with a ridiculously low 0.9 bar boost and only 90 horsepower already produces an exhaust temperature of 30 degrees Celsius above the ambient temperature.

I've also considered having a follow-up measurement for BLS-BMR.

Okay, and I don't think the difference in diameter has anything to do with the air requirement. Due to the combustion principle, there is already an excess of air. And regarding the identical box, I want to convert it to the 3.2-inch size because it won't be mounted transversely to the direction of travel, it will be larger and therefore not the first bottleneck.

Okay, then we can put our measurement skills to the test and compare the results. We might also uncover other changes that are specific to different model years.

Sure, I will.

Even though here, here it is about a naturally aspirated gasoline engine with indirect ignition, the content is quite interesting and may be partially applicable.

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will only provide the translation.

Since the front of the vehicle was completely disassembled anyway, I also decided to replace the exhaust pipe on the tractor.

We never really had the classic "kauderwelsch," but he wasn't exactly quiet either.

With the new pipe, I believe that certain noises have disappeared.

- This gurgling/glugging sound at idle
- Accelerating from a constant speed in the city now only produces torque noise, but nothing that suggests increased intake.

Problem:
The pipe consists of a solid section and a "padded" section.
The transition is a kind of collar.

This fin is only a few millimeters away from the fan housing.

(Photo follows)

I still need to clarify whether there will be any physical contact involved.
