Hi!
"Does anyone know the approximate time it takes to update the software on Continental SIMOS MSG units in a Cayenne?"
The reason for this is that I want to have a software update done on my CAYB (due to TPI2021663/9). However, the -related people only want to charge me an hourly rate, and they absolutely won't give me any information about whether it will take 5 minutes or 10 hours. And with an hourly rate of 135⏠here in Denmark, the cost can quickly become more expensive than simply replacing the MSG.

I just performed a CAY update on a Touran using ODIS, and it took about half an hour. GFS+ update. VCDS

I have a brand new CAYC in my wider (auto-indifferent ) circle.
What does TPI2021663/9 say?
Greetings.

@ chli1976 : Thank you very much. I hope that this person charges by the half-hour.
@ dieselmartin : TPI2021663/9: "Engine: Loud combustion noises and/or hesitation/jerking during slight acceleration, delayed starting." (Release date: 12/14/2012). Depending on the MSG (Main System Module) and equipment, software 9614-9970 will be installed.
In Italy, people claim to know that this software represents the currently final software version for the CAYB. Don't ask me where they claim to get that information .

Damn.
This CAYC also had a loud rattling noise.
However, you did NOT install any updates.
Based on what the WSC says, that should be correct.
I don't have a "before" scan, only an "after" scan.
But you can still see it in the "programming attempts."

The (9919) is the latest version according to the TPI of the 03L906023MM. Unfortunately, I no longer have a warranty and will have to pay for it .

In Austria, the latest software version isn't available yet; it's supposed to be on the DVD70, but the online data hasn't been updated for us yet. VCDS

Brief reply.
As mentioned, the update took approximately 30 minutes (from software version 5689 to 9970 on the CAYB engine).
Result:
- The slight instability in the quantity control at cold engine temperatures has been resolved (the thrust cutoff now engages with a slight delay).
Subjective changes:
- Increased starting torque.
- Softer cold start. It starts up less aggressively (idle speed and starter injection volume are slightly lower when starting below 0 degrees Celsius). As mentioned, this is subjective.
