Hello,

Although I've been registered here for a while, this is my first real question. Since I'm a complete beginner, I hope you'll be a little understanding if I probably mix up technical terms quite a bit right away.

Here's the translation:

"Recently, I've been driving a Seat Ibiza 6J with a 1.2 TSI engine (105 hp; engine code: CBZB). Since the car doesn't even have a coolant temperature gauge in the instrument cluster, I'd like to retrofit the "ScanGaugeII" system. According to the manufacturer, voltage and coolant temperature, among other things, can be directly accessed as standard OBD values. The oil temperature is more difficult. With VCDS, it's not a problem: 01-Engine, extended measuring values, location 171 "Calculated oil temperature." However, according to the ScanGauge manufacturer, this is not a "standard OBD value," but it can be read using the special "XGauge" function." However, this requires knowing the "TXD, RXF, RXD, and MTH settings."

My question to you experts is: What are the chances that I will be able to access this information? Or are they so specific/internal/secret that I wouldn't even have a chance of getting the settings from Seat itself?

I would really appreciate a response! icon_smile.gif

Best regards,
Frank.

I haven't been able to do it either with the Peugeot 206 with the 1.4 HDI engine, nor with the Renault Clio with the D7F gasoline engine. I've driven both of those vehicles for a long time with a ScanGauge II practically permanently installed. The coolant temperature gauge that's missing in your vehicle could easily be provided by the device. The HDI has something to read the oil temperature, but it might just be a temperature sensor. I haven't noticed anything like that with the D7F.

Perhaps the readings for load status and intake air temperature can help you assess the overall thermal health of the system? Then, there would still be one possible fourth data point remaining that could be displayed permanently on the ScanGauge II.

Hmm, that's a shame. I was hoping that someone had actually managed to read out one of the extended values using the XGauge function. But that seems to be really tricky... icon_confused.gif

Ultimately, I'm now faced with the choice of either buying the Scangauge anyway and foregoing the oil temperature display, or going with more "conventional" additional instruments. (Although the latter are very difficult to integrate cleanly into the dashboard... *sigh*).

Despite everything, thank you very much for the report! icon_biggrin.gif
