Hi,

bored out to 81mm, fits in the AFN engine, compatible with pistons from various five-cylinder engines. My question is: is there a suitable head gasket available for this?

The 2.0 2V PD (BMM) version doesn't fit. It might fit the newer VE TDI engine without the auxiliary shaft, which has a flat oil return channel on the front.

The only person who comes to mind is the engine repair specialist, who might be able to order something like that.
It's normally used when the "last" excess material is being drilled away. In the aftermarket, standard seals of varying thicknesses are usually the only ones available.

That leaves only one option: install it, measure the piston protrusion, and then, based on the engine block (RLF), determine the correct head gasket.
Does the piston have the correct valve clearance?
Sure, here's the translation:

"Best regards," or "Sincerely,".

I found something suitable.

The AFN engine's cylinder bore is 81mm, which covers all possible oversize tolerances.

The 1.6L ZKD (cylinder head) for the Passat 3B has a 82.5mm bore, and everything fits except for 3 small water channels. The gasket thickness of 1.6mm also fits (three-hole design for the AFN engine).

The compression height of the R5 pistons is 45.75mm, which is the same as the 45.80mm for the 1.9 R4 pistons, so they are compatible.
In the second over-size stage, the AFN apparently has a diameter of 80.5mm, which means there's enough material to allow for an 81ee bore.

I have a catalog in print form that includes nearly all off-highway engines, including industrial TDIs. I am currently comparing them icon_biggrin.gif.

Hi,

Does anyone know anything about the connecting rods? The piston pins fit the 1.9-liter connecting rods, but the pistons from the five-cylinder engine are about 40 grams heavier.

Do the five-cylinder engines have reinforced connecting rods? The VW part number is probably not the same, even if the connecting rods are identical...
