Hi.

I currently have a 2010 Touran with a crack in the exhaust pipe of the auxiliary heater.

While the individual parts are labeled in the picture, they are not sold separately; they are only available as a complete exhaust system.

Does anyone know of alternative sources for 5 cm corrugated pipe?

Hi Martin!

You can find them at any Webasto/Eberspächer/StHzg. dealer.
If necessary, I also have some extra lying around, and I'd be happy to send you some.

Best regards from Munich!

Here comes the big one.

In the Golf (same heater as in the turkey), you can buy this part separately.

Okay, I'll get back to you later - I need to go take my measurements.

SHIT

Horn off.
Remove the bells.

and now it's not going any further - the pipe is really stuck on the two flanges.

And if I just wrap GUMGUM around it?

Spray with rust remover. If that doesn't work, cut the pipe and carefully break off the rest using pliers or a pipe cutter.

Definitely replace it, don't repair it.
I also have one. It's 24mm. If you're interested, let me know.

The old hose crumbled in the middle.
I have wound down the ends.

With enough courage, everything went perfectly smoothly.

I had to scrub the bottom of the SH very thoroughly.

Unfortunately, I made the new arch slightly too wide (the old one was 20cm when measured, the new one was shortened to 21cm), so the horn had to be repositioned icon_smile.gif.

When does the old auxiliary heater actually turn on?
I would like to test the fun.

Eberspächer and Webasto both offer heat-resistant rubber sleeves that can be slipped over the exhaust pipe to keep it a safe distance from other parts, especially in tight spaces. Heat-resistant tape commonly used in motorsports is also excellent for insulating the exhaust pipes of auxiliary heaters. As a result, the exhaust pipe will be at best hand-warm, and the risk of fire is eliminated.

NE,

There's nothing wrong with the pipe.
I only measured it a bit too long, and I only realized after the complete assembly that the horn still needs to go in front.

Okay, I've adjusted the horn mounting bracket, all done.
If you compare my first and last picture, you can guess what I did by looking at the steps of the stand.

Removing the pipe bend again seemed like too much work, and I felt that it rusted through so quickly (MJ10) mainly because of its tight bend.

It's okay. I just meant it in a general sense, in case someone ever needs to install exhaust pipes like that. In the engine compartments of modern vehicles, which are often enclosed with plastic, the fire hazard posed by auxiliary heaters is a factor that should not be underestimated.

In the SHK (sanitary, heating, and air conditioning) industry, there are flexible stainless steel corrugated tubes available for solar installations.
They might not be quite as flexible, but you can often find leftover materials at your local heating and plumbing supplier.
At least one part fit the Eberspächer auxiliary heater from the T4.
