My POLO, manufactured in 1998, has now stopped working for the second time!
'When I'm riding down a long hill and I leave the engine in 5th gear without giving it any gas, it stalls... I only notice it when the oil pressure light starts flashing and the alarm sounds!'
Then it won't start up as well again!
The engine speed is always high enough... why does it stall? With a carburetor, I would say it's 'flooded,' but that's almost impossible!

'How do I find the part number at VW...? I called and mentioned 'relay 109', but they couldn't identify it (and I wanted to know the cost).'
Regarding the diesel filter... can I take a look at it myself? Could you please explain it or send me a picture? That would be great!

You can find relay 109 on the relay board, and it is usually labeled "109". This relay controls the power supply voltage for the EDC. Poor solder joints and burnt-out contacts are common problems with this component.

Yesterday I went to a VW dealer... The error memory was empty. I asked what to do next, and they told me all sorts of things... probably all expensive solutions. Then I asked about relay 109, and they immediately asked me how I knew about it... they know about the problem, and I'm getting the relay on Monday. In the end, they just said, 'Well, you get this kind of information from the internet... we would have probably replaced this part too!'

Thanks to you, I was able to fix the error completely and free of charge!
I was completely stuck today... Luckily, I had some tools with me. I removed the relay and bypassed the contact (35-87) with a wire jumper... and lo and behold, everything works again!
At home, I resoldered the relay and everything is working perfectly again!
