Off-Road Suspension for VW Golf 3 Syncro

The shock absorbers on my VW Transporter with Syncro and off-road package should be replaced.

I would like to remove something from the accessories, if possible.

Does anyone know if regular shocks would also fit (perhaps in the front)?

You might provide us with more detailed vehicle information. Then we could determine the part number and use that number to search, for example, on the Sachs website.

Sometimes, the ET number is also embossed on the shock absorber.

The dampers are quite rusty.

I checked out various online retailers for electronic parts and came across Sachs part number 170 128.

It's possible that they fit.
Unfortunately, we are missing the OE part number that would allow us to find equivalent parts from Sachs or other manufacturers.

It should be 535 413 031 C!

Then the Sachs Advantage shock absorber should be the one to choose.

It's slightly stiffer than the standard Sachs shock absorber. I used these in my Passat 3B and was very satisfied with them.
