Hey fellow mechanics!

In a T5 manufactured in August 2008, the radio sound is muffled, and the navigation system frequently displays incorrect locations, leading to misdirection.

Error codes indicated:

How can the radio be incorrectly coded by itself, without anyone having tampered with the coding beforehand? Does anyone know about this issue?

Yes, I'm familiar with that kind of error on a large scale.

We always called it "digital Alzheimer's." In this case, the EPROM or flash memory cells actually lose their content. Consequently, the coding itself may also be lost.
Nothing unusual for me.

It's amazing how many things there are!
Does anyone know the correct encoding to use so that this thing will work again?

What does the "Blubberblase" (literally: "blubber bubble") indicate in VCDS?

Okay, the speech bubble has been saying "update blah blah" for a while now...
Okay, I've updated it, but of course that doesn't change the error with the T5.

Okay, got it... I've tried it, and no matter which encoding is accepted, the sound remains muffled, even when playing from a CD. It seems like the problem is internal to the device.

Positive: The navigation system is working again; I simply tested it by plugging in my old navigation antenna, which happened to fit the connector - and now it works again.
While removing the storage compartment above the radio/navigation system in order to actually route the GPS antenna cables forward, I discovered a hidden space at the front of the storage compartment, where the GPS antenna was "hidden," which is good.

Now, the original roof antenna is just a decorative piece.
