Post26-07-2014, 9:47    Subject: New driveshaft, but which one fits the Audi A6 AVF with a 6-speed transmission? Quote

Hello,

I want to install two new complete drive shafts from SKF on my 2004 Audi A6 Avant 1.9 AVF with a 6-speed transmission (part number 0588 758).
I'm only finding wave-pattern knobs online that are designed for 5-speed switches right now.

Original part number: 4B0 407 271 BA, replacement part: 4B0 407 451 HX.
4B0 407 272 BA -> Replaced with part 4B0 407 452 HX.

Would this wave from SKF fit my application in terms of length and spline?

Sure, no problem. Here's the translation:

"Thank you in advance."

Part No: 1520-9417 (SKF) VKJC 4879
Engine code: AVF.
Engine code: AWX.
Transmission type: 5-speed manual transmission.
Installation side: Left front axle.

Length: 624 mm
External gear on the wheel side: 38.
Number of teeth on the ABS ring: 45.

Part No: 1520-9422 (SKF) VKJC 4899
Engine code: AVF.
Engine code: AWX.
Transmission type: 5-speed manual transmission.
Installation side: Right front axle.

Length: 645 mm
External gear on the wheel side: 38.
Number of teeth on the ABS ring: 45.

Hi, sorry, I forgot.
Is it only front-wheel drive?

Do you also have the exact model type and the transmission code letter?

It seems that with this model, the exact part numbers can only be determined using the equipment code. The type, engine code (MKB), and gearbox code (GKB) are not sufficient. The code is located on the service sticker, for example, in the service booklet, and consists of 3 characters, starting with "T" in this case. Examples: T9J, T7T, T5T, T15, T0F, T1K, T6V.
Take a look.
I would go to the icon_biggrin.gif with the service booklet and have them help me choose the right waves.

Yes, at the icon_biggrin.gif Audi parts store, a complete shaft costs about €600 -> the price is completely outrageous!

On online parts websites, you can find information like this: for example, the part "4B0 407 271 C" is listed as being compatible with the AUDI A6 Avant (4B, C5) 1.9 TDI manufactured between August 2001 and January 2005, with an engine power of 96 kW / 130 PS, a displacement of 1896 cm3, 4 cylinders, and a body style of "Kombi" (station wagon).

I have uploaded the sticker with the numbers

Code T9J, which likely corresponds to the original part numbers 4B0407271C (left) and 4B0407272C (right). The index "BA" probably belongs to a different equipment code.
Look at the icon_biggrin.gif. If not, then search for PR code T9J.

"Thank you!"

Under the part number (T9J -> 4-cylinder diesel engine, 96 kW, 1.9L), I found the following shafts. I believe they are all the same.

Tripod.
front
Front entrance + PR-T9J, T7T, T5T, T15, T0F, T1K.

(1) 4B0407271C Constant velocity jointed driveshaft, left side, 1 unit, for 5-speed manual transmission + PR-T9J.

(1) 4B0407451CX Constant velocity jointed driveshaft, left side, 1 unit, for 5-speed manual transmission + PR-T9J.

(1) 4B0407272C Constant velocity jointed driveshaft, right side, 1 unit, for 5-speed manual transmission + PR-T9J.

(1) 4B0407452CX: Constant velocity jointed driveshaft, right side, 1 piece, for 5-speed manual transmission + PR-T9J.

(1) 4B0407271BA: Constant velocity joint driveshaft, left side, 1 unit, for 6-speed manual transmission + PR-T9J.

(1) 4B0407451HX - Driveshaft with constant velocity joints, left side, 1 piece, for 6-speed manual transmission + PR-T9J.

(1) 4B0407272BA Constant velocity joint, right side, 1 unit, for 6-speed manual transmission + PR-T9J.

You can already see that different part numbers belong to different transmissions. No one assigns different part numbers to identical parts. The code comes after the assignment to the transmission.
Since our information is partially contradictory, I would advise you to go to the icon_biggrin.gif again.
