Hello everyone,

During the engine oil and transmission fluid change, I noticed that both engine mounts appear to be leaking (possibly partially), with a mileage of 237,000 km.

Both bearings show reddish-brown-black traces of a dried liquid. The engine sump also has reddish stains. I initially thought it might be coolant, but the bearings are caked with dirt and grime.
The engine vibrates slightly louder/more intensely when idling, but it's barely noticeable. I haven't observed any knocking when accelerating or during load changes. When driving over significant bumps on the highway, there's quite a bit of rattling – which, I think, is likely coming from the front suspension and the dashboard. It recently passed the technical inspection without any issues, so the front suspension doesn't seem to be causing any major problems yet.

I would now like to have the hydraulic engine mounts replaced, either at a VW dealership or at an independent workshop. I'm finding hydraulic engine mounts for between 33 and 69 euros each, and strangely, they always seem to be listed as "for the right side."

Gibt es Empfehlungen der Profis bzgl. Manufacturers?
What would the approximate cost of the replacement be?
Better to go to the official dealership or are independent workshops just as good?
Should I have other engine mounts and dampers replaced at the same time, if necessary?

Thank you in advance, haithamina.

Hello.

Part number for the right-side AVB: 8D0199382AR. Price at VW: €114.10.
Part number for the left-side AVB: 8D0199379AR, price at VW: €90.87.

I've already replaced both of them in my A4 TDI, at approximately 178,000 km.
I bought both of them from VW/Audi, so I can't really tell you anything about aftermarket parts.

I would also replace the rubber mount (part number 8D0199339M, approximately €8.00) for the torque strut at the front, underneath the radiator.
This support needs to be loosened anyway to install the hydraulic bearings, as the engine needs to be lifted. When reassembling, the new rubber can be installed at the same time.

Regards, Mpire.

Are there any recommendations from professionals regarding manufacturers?

You can't go wrong with brands like Lemforder, TRW, Boge, or Sachs.

For everything else (except OE), please keep your hands off.
I've had many problems with Febi products. I'll never use them again.

Hello and thank you very much!
So far, so good.
"Does anyone know what VW sells or uses there? The prices are still significantly higher than those of parts suppliers (who, for example, offer brands suggested by Autoservice, although Febi Bilstein often seems to be the "top" choice, with brands like SWAG being offered below that)."
Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention to that when I had it on the lift (grr)...

For example, with Lemförder, only the original logo is removed.

Okay, now the friendly one is being active!

I'd like to give a big compliment to Mpire: because I wanted to prepare the order in the best possible way, i.e., to ensure that the parts would be available and installed on the day of delivery, I provided him with the part numbers mentioned by Mpire.
"Where did you get that from? Oh, this rubber part, ah, okay, I'll order it!"
When I picked up the car after the repair, they wanted to know how I could have known that the hydraulic mounts were broken. Anyway, the guys at VW seemed to be preoccupied, both before and after the repair.

I paid 408,- excluding VAT, which, considering the 190 parts and the apparently necessary service work, I think is perfectly reasonable. It would have taken me a long time, and I'm not sure I would have had all the tools needed, like a motor support.
Thank you again to all our supporters!
