Hello,
I removed the glow plugs from my spare engine (PD TDI). Unfortunately, I can't find much information about glow plug deposits. What happened to the bottom glow plug? Is it related to coolant injection?
Bye.

Have you ever made the glow plug glow while the engine was disassembled? Perhaps that will answer your question.

Have you ever made the GK glow while it's disassembled? Perhaps your question is already answered then.
Genau.
I bet that 2 or 3 of them don't glow at all, or they glow really badly. And the one that supposedly has water injection is the one that works best.

Hello everyone!
One more note outside of the question:
From GSK No. 1, the seat was not sealed .
Please take a closer look at the sealing surface in the ZK (presumably referring to a component), as it appears to be damaged.
Best regards from Munich!

Okay, thanks. I'll try to ignite it next time.
Regarding the comment about a leaky valve seat, I have to admit I'm not knowledgeable about that - it seems the sealing is done with the cone at the bottom of the stem, between the thread and the glow plug tip, rather than with the thread itself? However, I also ran the engine several times with loose spark plugs. It's possible that some grime got lodged in there during those runs.
Bye.

Correct. A thread alone cannot provide a seal.
And you can clearly see that the candle has already burned down, especially at the base of the GSK (presumably a piece of equipment), where it is exposed/was exposed.
