Good evening, everyone.

I am looking for information on how to "repair" the cruise control system in two cars, one with a 1.8T gasoline engine and the other with a 2.4 gasoline engine.
Apparently, with the newer models, especially diesel vehicles, it's possible to display signals from the brake/clutch pedal and the steering wheel lever via the engine control unit (ECU) using the diagnostic tool MWB 006 / 066.

Am I completely in the wrong place, or does this simply not work with these cars?

Certainly! Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I will only provide the translation.
Roman.

Hello Roman,

You are absolutely right. If the label file associated with the respective control unit is not encrypted: Click on the blue name located at the top left of the measurement blocks; the meaning of each bit for the switch positions is explained in the comments.

Common mistakes:
- Cruise control lever is defective.
- Clutch or brake switch misaligned (can be readjusted by pulling it out and pressing it once; keyword: click mechanism).
- Clutch or brake switch malfunction.

Best regards, Rainer.

Unfortunately, only engine data is available for vehicle 006.
and not available for 066 icon_sad.gif.

"On the 1.8T, only the '+' button for the cruise control isn't working; I suspect the contact might be dirty. However, since nothing works on the cruise control on the 2.4, I simply ran VCDS on the 1.8T to see if perhaps the control unit in the 2.4 is defective and that's why it's not showing me any information."
Gasoline-powered vehicles have a GRA control unit located behind the glove compartment.

Unfortunately, it shows the same thing for both of them, which is nothing.

Regards,
Roman.

The 2.4 doesn't have electronic throttle control yet, so check the vacuum booster for the cruise control system.
It wouldn't be the first one with a crack icon_wink.gif.

So, I guess my assumption is probably correct that you can't read any data from these vehicles using VCDS.

It would be a shame, but if that's the case, I don't need to keep searching with VCDS; I can investigate directly on the car itself.

Best regards.
Roman.

No idea, without an Autoscan and without the VAG part numbers of the control units? We're not mind readers.

Just take a look at the label file...
