Yesterday, I ran a general scan and encountered the following problem.

The error cannot be cleared. However, the electric auxiliary heater can be easily switched on and off using VCDS. It draws approximately 50 amps, and warm air comes out of the vents almost instantly.
Can someone tell me why the auxiliary heater isn't working during normal operation? Is the control unit defective?
By the way, a third-party radio was installed, which explains all the other issues.

It probably has nothing to do with the auxiliary heater, but please fill in the missing control units from the installed parts list. You might also experience problems with the quiescent current this way.

Hello.

I also once had error code 14 in the auxiliary heater of my 3C.
Helping to fix the issue was resoldering the five larger resistors on the circuit board, which likely had cold solder joints.

The heating system has been working again since then.

The heater is installed in the driver's footwell, on the right-hand side, just above the accelerator pedal.
Perhaps this tip will be helpful to you.

Thank you for the tip. Today, I removed my auxiliary heater and resoldered the connections of the heating elements, and after that, the auxiliary heater started working again.
The installation and removal were quite a hassle. I still have the old version with the integrated control unit; it would be a shame to get rid of it.

Hi,

After the auxiliary heater started working again, it stopped functioning yesterday and brought back the old, unerasable error message, just like at the beginning.
In another online forum, it was suggested to resolder some SMD resistors. I tried this as a last resort today, and since then, the auxiliary heater has been working again. I don't know how long this will last; hopefully, it will continue to work. If not, I'll probably need to replace it.

Attached is the image showing the resistors that are affected.

These are MELF resistors, not SMD resistors; SMDs are rectangular, while MELFs are round.

Please keep us updated on whether the MELFs are actually causing the problem.

PS: MELFs are also considered SMD components, but MELF is, of course, the precise term.

Daß der Zuheizer jetzt zum zweiten Mal nach Aus- und Einbau wieder funktioniert bzw. keinen Fehler liefert, lenkt den Verdacht auch auf die Steckverbindung oder die Verkabelung. Let's wait and see.

Short update... The auxiliary heater is still working.
I hope this continues to be the case, let's see.

The wiring is likely not the issue, as only 2 wires are connected for the CAN bus in addition to the power lines, and the CAN bus has always worked.

However, I'm now unable to get it past the center console and the lower steering wheel cover.
