How can I open CLB files in my own car?
Best regards, Peter icon_rolleyes.gif.

Hi Peter,

".clb" files are control unit description files from VCDS. They are used automatically, and the user interface is expanded with the information they contain when you access the corresponding control unit.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
Thank you for your quick response.
I finally managed to open them, but unfortunately, they are encrypted.
Can it be changed?
Best regards, Peter icon_sad.gif

Sure, you can change that with the right key. However, the intention is that while the files adjust the user interface of the control units installed in your vehicle, not everyone will be able to copy all the information from all the control units.

Besides that, there's no reason for you to view the file in its raw format, because you can see the same information in VCDS anyway.

Best regards, Rainer.
PS: Please don't ask for the source code of VCDS now...

Hi Rainer,
Don't worry, I just wanted to get some information. I still have the manufacturer's warranty.
With my old Golf 4, it was easier to see all the values on a single page.
It's probably a bit more complicated with the Golf 7, and that's actually a good thing.
Thank you for your information.
