The following error code is stored in the diagnostic memory of my Sharan 7N:

Address 55: Headlight range control. Label file: DRV\5M0-907-357-V2.lbl
Control unit part number: 5M0 907 357 D. Hardware version: 5M0 907 357 D.
Component and/or version: AFS control unit 0149.
Encoding: 3555545
Operating number: WSC 00020 790 00000
Extended Information: 1T0941329 AFS-Lst. Module (left) 0001 1T0941329 AFS-Lst. Module (right) 0001
VCID: 356717D15C0ACF969D-8060
Error codes have been cleared.

"One error found:"
00496 - Front vehicle leveling sensor.
010 - Interruption/Short circuit after positive terminal - Warning light ON.
Environmental conditions:
Error status: 11101010
Error priority: 3
Error frequency: 1.
Lost Count: 241
Mileage: 97985 km
Time: 0.
Date: 2060.14.22
Time: 21:30:55

Environmental conditions:
Voltage: 13.21 V
Speed: 0.0 km/h
ABS 1

The bulbs for the turning lights are fine, so in my opinion, it's likely the level sensor on the front left side. I searched online for the part number (ET), but only found it available as an original part for around €106.

Is there an address where I can purchase them as accessories? I haven't been able to find a store that sells them.

Für alle, die das gleiche Problem haben: Die Sensoren sind zur Zeit für den Aftermarket gesperrt und nur an der Original Ersatzteiltheke erhältlich. Mit entsprechendem Preis. icon_evil.gif

Alternatively, you can use price requests from Volkswagen dealerships (via Google). They are usually a bit cheaper there.

"The same problem, but with the rear sensor. When you clear the error code with VCDS, both front xenon headlights flash for 3 seconds... rat-tat-tat-tat-tat rrrrrr. Then they turn off, and the error reappears."

"You don't necessarily need to remove the wheel if you have a lift. The sensor is located at the rear left. After 199,000 km (plus whatever the previous owner neglected), it's simply clogged. A new sensor isn't strictly necessary. You can try cleaning it; if needed, carefully remove and reinstall it. Clear the error code and you're done."

I hope you don't have to replace that part; it costs over €100 from VW for a Passat. You can easily find the sensor for a Skoda on eBay, just search for the sensor *without* the lever mechanism, and they are only €25! They all look the same and function identically. Best regards.

Hello everyone,

I have to revive this old topic because I'm now experiencing the same error with my Caddy3, which has xenon headlights.

Geber für Fahrzeugniveau hinten, Unterbrechung/Kurzschluss nach plus.

I took the sensor out and it looks okay so far; the lever moves easily...

With the ignition turned on and the sensor disconnected from the connector (vehicle side), I measured the voltage between each pin and ground: Pin 1 shows 0V; Pin 2 shows 5.1V; Pin 3 shows 4.4V.

M(valuable)

Do you think the sensor or the cable is faulty?

The sensor including the lever has part number 2K5941273M and is supposed to cost €160. The number 4H0907503 is printed on the sensor itself. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a sensor from a different vehicle and adapt the linkage?

Most likely, it's the sensor.

I have already had to replace both front-level sensors on my 7N (with DCC).

I bought cheap imitations from eBay for 20-30 euros because you can get quite close to the original. One has been in place for about a year, and the other for roughly three months. So far, no problems.

I would be satisfied if it lasts for 5 years. After all, the original part only lasted 7 or 8 years.

Regards,
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" means "gust" in English. It refers to a sudden and strong gust of wind.

Thank you very much for your replies!

I ordered a sensor from eBay and installed it. Since there wasn't one specifically for the Caddy, I used a 4H0941309C (Audi A6 C7) and modified the linkage from the broken sensor to make it fit.

It seems to be working again now, let's see how long it lasts...

This is already the third defect with the xenon system, and otherwise there have been no issues with the car. If the light wasn't so pleasant, it would probably bother me more.
