Hello colleagues,

We received an Audi A5 with rear-end damage at our workshop. Everything has been renewed, including two PDC (Parking Distance Control) sensors.

Okay, here's the translation:

Now, here's the case:
The customer is reporting that a sensor located at the back of the display has a red bar that extends to the edge (essentially, an obstruction right at the bumper).
However, that's not the case. I recently used the listening method and discovered that all the sensors in the rear are emitting an audible ticking sound, but one sensor in the front is defective. You can see an impact directly in the center of the sensor.

What's very strange to me is that I can't access the SG from the PDC. It seems like there isn't one there. But the PDC is doing its job, aside from occasional outages.
Do you have any other suggestions for me about what else I can do?

Hi,

In older vehicles, the PDC (Parking Distance Control) control unit can be found under control unit addresses 10 or 72.
In newer cars, it is integrated into the body control module (module address 9).

You should be able to find it in the measurement data blocks.

Best regards, Rainer.
PS: My last faulty PDC sensor looked fine from the outside, but the sealing compound had let water in. It initially only worked intermittently, especially in humid weather, and then stopped working altogether.

Hi,

Only paint PDC sensors once, if possible.
The second coat of paint causes similar symptoms.
Kaum macht man es richtig, funktioniert es!
