Good evening.

I just stumbled upon this forum and immediately have a question, or rather, I need your help.

A friend of mine has a leaky fuel injection pump (2.0 TDI - 105 hp - diesel). He disassembled the pump and installed a new seal. However, the car won't start now. He didn't remove the top cover, but rather disassembled it from the part underneath, where you can see the control plunger (?) and in the detached section, there's the eccentric shaft (?).

The throttle valve and the eccentric shaft were both moved (while they were disassembled). I believe it's always a good idea to mark everything before taking it apart, but that wasn't done in this case.

How can I reassemble the pump correctly so that the car will run again? I hope someone can help me. If pictures are needed, I can take some.

"I apologize if the technical terms are not correct or if I have explained something in a roundabout or unclear way."

Thank you in advance.
Best regards.

I highly doubt that the pump can be repaired and made to work again using common household items and a reasonable amount of time.
I would put the pump to the test at the Bosch service center. icon_wink.gif

Hello,

I've now read up a bit, and the part that was unscrewed was between the mixing chamber and the pump housing. icon_biggrin.gif

I was hoping there might be a template or some measurements available. Surely Bosch doesn't test every single pump individually, do they?

Thank you for the quick response.

Best regards.

Because with a part like this, even a loose tolerance of 1/10mm can make all the difference in whether it "works" or "doesn't work," naturally. icon_wink.gif

I wouldn't have expected that icon_rolleyes.gif.

Do you happen to know how much that might cost?

Best regards.

Hello,

The pump needs to be placed on a test stand; that's now clear. But to do that, it has to be removed. What should be considered? Can I mark the pump so that I can reinstall it later without any problems? This means fixing the camshaft gear, marking the belt and pulley of the pump, and precisely marking the position of the pump.

Is that possible, or should I discard this idea?

Thank you.
Best regards.

Support for diesel engine technology should be posted in the "Diesel Engine Technology" forum, where you, as a non-customer, do not have writing permissions. icon_idea.gif
