Hello everyone again...

New problem...

After 1500km since my head repair, I had the pleasure of replacing the water hose from the water pump to the cylinder head and the oil cooler. Absolutely awful job! No space and so on... icon_mad.gif

Okay, and now, again, after about 1500 km, the same thing happened... the inner tube seemed to burst. icon_evil.gif

The Ford dealers couldn't figure out how this could have happened, except that the engine must have overheated.

At VW, they told me that my head gasket was faulty (it was replaced about 3000 km ago), which I found unacceptable.

Okay, so I just replaced the hose, and then I had a icon_twisted.gif BAD icon_twisted.gif surprise...

The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is leaking, and it's dripping onto the hose at a rate of about once every second.
Is it possible that the diesel fuel softens the hose, causing it to burst?

Here's my question: Has anyone here ever tried sealing the ESP unit themselves, or attempted to do so? What does it cost to have Bosch service do it? Or does anyone have any ideas about what I should do now?

Best regards,
MIkl

PS: I'm starting to get really fed up with the TDI and it has 285,000 km on the odometer.

Hello,

If diesel fuel comes into contact with the water hoses during a fuel filter change, it should be removed immediately. However, one might wonder if the hoses could become softer as a result.

Regards,

Tobias.

Hello MIKl, exactly where is the leak coming from the ESP? With Bosch, you can practically get a replacement pump, at least in terms of price.

@mhernach

Weren't you one of those people who used to drive on biodiesel?

Best regards, WarLord.

Yes, certainly... 70,000 km without any problems...

Yes, yes, biodiesel doesn't cause any problems.

but why is the ESP now leaking? icon_biggrin.gif

Hello everyone...
... Now I know more...

I went to the Bosch service center today, and they were very nice, and they immediately took me into the workshop. icon_confused.gif

Yesterday, I put a piece of cloth icon_redface.gif under the ESP icon_exclaim.gif to prevent everything from dripping onto the hose, and it was completely soaked with diesel! }

Back to Bosch... the nice gentleman cleaned my ESP with brake cleaner and dried it with compressed air...

Now I was allowed to start.

The seal between the high-pressure and low-pressure sections is leaking... The cost to repair this, without replacing any parts (parts are not included), is at least 275,- excluding tax for the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) unit.

Unfortunately, I really don't want to spend around €330 on this, because then the quantity valve might fail after only 10,000 km.

Sure, here's the translation:

'MFG Mikl' translates to 'Best regards, Mikl' or 'Sincerely, Mikl' in English.

PS: I'm going to get a used one with approximately 90,000 km on it...

Yes, certainly... 70,000 km without problems...

And now, without them again? It can only go wrong if you believe the statements about the seals.

Best regards, WarLord.

And now, again without .

Yes, you're right... unfortunately, I no longer had access to 'cheap' biodiesel.

but I think it's probably been happening since I stopped using biodiesel.

Best regards,
Mikl

Isn't that the exact same pump that M3NX recently replaced? He actually took some really good photos of the process.

So, if you're already buying a used pump, you don't really have anything to lose by trying to replace the seal yourself.icon_wink.gif

I have a fuel injector for you icon_lol.gif.

It only has 256783 kilometers on it; that would be something. icon_twisted.gif
