Hello! I have a question about the technical article "Aschemasseabgleich" (https://community.dieselschrauber.org/en/viewtopic.php?t=20333) and I'm wondering if I'm the only one:
I'm in adaptation channel 12 for the engine control unit and want to set a value of 20g. However, the value 00000020 is not being accepted. Does it need to be converted somehow? If I only enter "20", I get the error message: "The new value must consist of exactly 8 hexadecimal characters."
Engine: 2.0 Pump Denoise (BRE).
Apparently, everyone here knows how to enter "20g" except for me. Could someone please explain it? Thank you.

20 in decimal is 0x14 in hexadecimal. Can you upload a Screenshot of what VCDS expects?
Based on intuition, I would expect 0x 00000014 as input, where 8 hexadecimal digits correspond to 32 bits.

Thank you for the quick response! Please find two screenshots attached. It seems like something in the format of "00000F3A" is expected here. While it would accept "00000000", that doesn't correspond to the self-cleaning filter.

Only Ross-Tech themselves probably understand why they don't use the numerical base encoded in the number.
If one were to implement it, one could also automatically convert between hexadecimal, decimal, or any other base.
I find it very unfortunate as it's not clear whether a decimal or hexadecimal value is intended. My suggestion would be that VCDS, for historical reasons, treats decimal numbers as such and recognizes numbers starting with "0x..." as hexadecimal, and above all, displays the read value accordingly. The padding with leading zeros should happen automatically, but as it is now, definitely fewer people will mess things up because they simply can't manage it.

I will try it tomorrow. Here's another interesting piece of information: Apparently, VCDS doesn't read certain values with the engine running in this mode, whereas it does when the ignition is on but the engine isn't running.

Without ever having done the procedure myself, I would guess that a value of 0 also corresponds to 0. And does 20 then correspond to 20? Or is the resolution too coarse for that?
