Engine Speed Sensor | 00801

Hello.

The car stalled while driving. Audi A6 2.7 TDI Highline.
It has always had trouble starting, and it only fires up briefly as if it's not getting enough diesel fuel.
and went out.
What remained on the tachometer when the engine was turned off was approximately 300 RPM.

Off to the workshop.

They towed the car and replaced the glow plugs. It's working again, but it definitely shouldn't have been that.
Very concerning for me.

The service was performed approximately 14,000 km ago, including a replacement of the diesel filter and other components.

That would worry me more. A motor is unlikely to stall simply because the glow plugs aren't working, even though with that mileage, all six should probably be replaced.

Given that engine control units rarely fail completely, I would carefully inspect the wiring to the engine control unit (especially the wiring leading to the crankshaft position sensor) for any signs of chafing or damaged cables. Also, check all fuses and look for any electrical disturbances within the vehicle's system that could cause the engine control unit to malfunction.
