Hello Diesel Mechanic Community, unfortunately, I had a fire in the engine compartment near the ABS module in my 2008 Touran 2.0 TDI Highline earlier last year. This damaged the wiring harness in the area of the ABS module, throttle body, blower motor, and some other components. I replaced the wiring harness and ABS connector in that engine area, as well as the ABS module (with a used one), a new throttle body, and a used blower motor including the heating element. Unfortunately, I'm not really able to help with the remaining issues, such as the ESP error (ESP light on & pairing), and the fuel gauge not displaying anything (error code 0771).
I'm unable to access the three error codes mentioned to calibrate the sensors and check the values for plausibility.
01435 - Sensor 1 for brake pressure (G201)
00778 - Steering angle sensor (G85)
01423 - Lateral acceleration sensor (G200)
005 - No or incorrect initial setup/adaptation.
I took the coding value, operating number, device number, etc., from the old original ABS module and replaced them. Was that correct? What's the best way to try things out here to eliminate these errors?
The fuel level sensor shows approximately 174 ohms between pins 2 & 3, 3 & 4, or 2 & 4 (I'm not entirely sure which combination). If I move the car around, the resistance changes slightly. With a 100-ohm resistor connected to the connector, the gauge needle doesn't move. The fuel pump is receiving 12V. The fuel gauge displayed normal readings during the diagnostic test.
It would be great if I could get some professional tips on what I should do next.

Hi,

Why and how did the engine compartment catch fire in the first place?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi, I have the original VCDS cable including the license key. (Version: DRV 17.8.1.0, HEX-V2 CB: 0.4401.4)
Data as of: 20180112 DS276.7). A fire in the engine compartment was likely caused by a short circuit, or the right-side damper for the water reservoir may have become slightly loose and ignited. The ventilation system also contributed to the problem by drawing smoke and flames into the interior.
