Gasoline Refill: 2.2 Liters Added

It happened to me for the first time yesterday.
I accidentally put 2.2 liters of E10 gasoline into my car. Since the tank was empty, I then filled it with 66 liters of diesel. This is about my Sharan CFGB.

My mind tells me that everything will be alright. But somehow, I have a bad feeling about it.

I would argue that this can be neglected in that relationship.
Previously, to make diesel more resistant to freezing, people would add a few liters of gasoline; and this made a significant difference (I believe I read that it could be up to 10%, unfortunately, I don't know the source).

If you are concerned about the lubrication properties, add just a tiny bit, like the tip of a finger, of 2T oil.

In the past, when temperatures were extremely cold, it was common to mix up to 25 or 30% gasoline with diesel fuel in trucks.
"Here, at work, if the temperature is forecast to drop below -20°C, we also get a gasoline allowance. It's 5 liters of gasoline for every approximately 130 liters of diesel."

However, this was long before the use of common rail high-pressure pumps with lubrication-sensitive components. Today, manufacturers explicitly warn against even the smallest amounts of gasoline.

I would definitely use 2T oil in this case. Make sure to avoid synthetic oils, and if possible, also avoid oils with colorants. For example, Alpine 2T oil is mineral-based and uncolored.

How much should I mix in? Is it available for purchase anywhere in the Rhine-Main area?

I would already add 0.2 liters in the current situation. Mixing it without subsequent refueling is a problem, perhaps a skillful slalom might help.

I only saw it online; I didn't use any myself during my time with diesel vehicles. However, what I've seen in common stores is usually red-colored and fully synthetic.

If anyone is concerned about the coloring of the two-stroke oil, there is no need to worry. The visible color in the fuel tank will disappear due to the additives used. "Solvent Yellow" is something different; it's the dye used to mark heating oil.

Furthermore, the mixture can be diluted by repeatedly topping up the tank with regular diesel fuel during the process. Therefore, refuel as soon as there is room for another 10 liters.

I wasn't really thinking about using a marker for that. Also, the dyes don't completely disappear without leaving any residue. Although... if it's only used once...

That's my plan. So far, thankfully, I haven't noticed any damage. Also, I can't find anything negative about the driving experience (acceleration, smoothness, engine noise, fuel consumption). I've driven about 220 km since then.

The gasoline content is 3.14%, assuming a 70-liter tank.

Right now; it's not forever; but (hopefully) just a one-time thing.

I mean, the engine oil fumes that are drawn in through the ventilation system probably won't burn completely...

I just filled up the tank for the first time. I was able to add 40 liters. The engine is still running normally. I hope it stays that way.

Yesterday, I filled the tank with 36 liters. It was almost empty, and even though I intended to refill it regularly, I had forgotten in the rush.

Fortunately, there have been no incidents so far.
