Perhaps someone can help me.
I drive a Volkswagen Golf 6 with a 1.6 TDI engine that has been modified for increased performance.
The first time I experienced this problem was 10,000 km ago. The car goes into limp mode while driving. After restarting, it works normally again.
Here's the log from that time:
Address 01: Engine Control Module (J623-CAYC)
Label file: DRV\03L-906-023-CAY.clb
Part number SW: 03L 997 557 R, HW: 03L 906 023 A.
Part: R4 1.6L TDI; H23 9982.
Revision: --H23--- Serial Number: 00000000000000
Encoding: 00114036032401080000
Operating number: WSC 01357 011 00200
ASAM Dataset: EV_ECM16TDI02103L997557R 003003
ROD: EV_ECM16TDI02103L906023FL.rod
VCID: 4B92A9F1E24F731946-801E

"One error found:"

Error priority: 2
Error frequency: 2.
Mileage: 138,872 km

Motor speed: 1015.50 rpm.
Normalized load value: 13.3%
Vehicle speed: 17 km/h
Coolant temperature: 55 °C
Intake air temperature: 22 °C
Atmospheric pressure: 980 millibars.
Voltage at terminal 30: 14.682 V.
Lost count after OBD: 39.
Boost pressure sensor: Feedback - ANG_BPA[0]: 62.579%
Boost pressure controller: Control value - ANG_SP_BPA[0]: 84.940 %.
High-pressure turbocharger control: Control parameter CTL_LIM_BPA[0]: 84.998%.
High-pressure turbocharger sensor: Raw voltage value - V_BPA[0]: 2.539 V.
Boost pressure sensor: Open circuit - V_BPA_BOL[0]: 0.498 V
Charge pressure sensor: Offset closed - V_BPA_TOL[0]: 3.340 V
High-pressure turbocharger status: LF_STATE_BPA_DISP[0]: 76.

Then I replaced the boost pressure regulator. After that, everything was back to normal.
Now, after driving 10,000 km, it has happened four times that the car goes into limp mode and makes a very loud noise immediately after starting. (I think the wastegate is staying open).
Could it be that the boost pressure regulator is broken again?

Hello,

Your turbocharger doesn't have a wastegate. If it did, you wouldn't be able to hear whether the wastegate is open or closed. Something else is wrong.

You can upload videos taken with your phone here, and then we might be able to assess what's going wrong. (Depending on the video icon_wink.gif).

I would perform a diagnostic test using the actuator to check if the vacuum sensor is functioning correctly and not sticking.
Also, how are the position feedback readings? Don't forget to check the cables (for damage caused by animals like martens, etc.).

Best regards, Rainer.

Okay, thanks! I'll take a look at it tomorrow, and if the problem happens again when I start it up, I'll record a video for safety.
