Hi.
A neighbor sought help from a friend who works at a repair shop (of a different brand).
You removed the temperature sensor from the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) of the Touran with a BLS engine and placed a can [of something] there.
Würth "Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner".
blown in.
Then the neighbor should take a drive after they've initiated a regeneration process using a BMW or other testing device.
Does anyone know this procedure?
I believe they wanted to reduce the now-high ash content with this. The car has been driven over 200 kilometers.
Greetings.

On the website, Würg initially mentions the removal of ash and carbon, but further down, it only refers to the removal of "C."
You also mention a neutral formulation (with a pH of 11!).
Das ist also einfach eine deftige Läufe. Period.
"... Dissolves and removes carbon deposits in the particulate filter."
Cleaning without dismantling the DPF.
Cost savings, as a new particulate filter may not need to be installed (depending on the condition of the existing particulate filter).
Non-flammable.
Neutral formula, free of ash and metals.
"Complete evaporation without residue" ...

What does that mean?
The addition "also suitable for cleaning the EGR valve" to me sounds like it also dissolves "carbon deposits."
But the problem isn't actually that, when you have 66 grams of ash in the DPF (and are only allowed to have 60).
Okay, it's all voodoo... and then just casually pulling out the temperature sensor... that's brave.
Or have I missed something?
Greetings.

You can only decompose oil ash through thermal (pyrolysis) or chemical processes. It always contains metal compounds. In both cases, the decomposition products must go somewhere; however, they should not be filterable.

The particulate filter cleaner is also available under other brand names in spray cans. The promises regarding the removal of carbon and ash are very similar.
I've already tried the ones from Cartechni*, Pete*, and Prest*. They might help with regeneration, but you won't be able to remove the sulfate ash this way. That was obvious beforehand, of course. But laziness, you know? I didn't really feel like taking the filter out. Naturally, it didn't work.
Okay, so remove the sensor and empty the contents of the spray can into the filter using a nozzle attachment. Then let it sit for half an hour, start a forced regeneration cycle, and drive.
Then, reset the ash value.
The regeneration intervals became much shorter instead of longer.
So, in the end, the DPF was removed and cleaned using a traditional method. A large amount of red residue came out; it looked like old coolant. By the way, the cleaning fluids from Cartechnic and Prestone are also red. Passat Variant BGW 2005

Hi Martin, the autocorrect didn't like the word "Lauge."
And yes, Voodoo is a working DPF cleaner that removes carbon buildup itself. And with a defective DPF, the (allegedly achieved) carbon removal doesn't last very long.
