Hello,
After cleaning my powder particle data (PPD) system due to carbonization issues, one of the components failed: it short-circuited to ground.
After replacing the faulty part with a refurbished unit from Bosch, the engine started again (although it initially needed a jump start), but it was running very unevenly. It felt like it was only running on three cylinders, but with less power.
I'm completely at a loss in this matter. What measurements can I take to narrow down the source of the problem? The fuel injection quantity deviations are all within the range of +/- 1.5 during idle.
Sincerely,

Hello,
Were the PD elements installed by you according to the instructions?
Please provide the values for the idle speed control. Do these values remain approximately the same if you drive 5 km in between?
Best regards, Rainer.

Here's the log. The trip details are included, sorry about that.
The decision was made in accordance with the guidelines.
What might also be worth mentioning is:
"When installing the components, a valve spring compressor wasn't used because a consultant from a tool store said it wasn't necessary. Could the problem lie there? The manual specifically mentions using one."

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"Addendum to the last sentence:"
However, the engine, when it was running, worked perfectly fine before the replacement.
In addition to the replacement part, I also noticed that it had a different type of connector on the element, as well as a smaller diameter on the nozzle part, but the part number was the same, so I didn't think much of it.
Best regards,

Hello,
The values of the idle speed control are jumping almost randomly between individual cylinders.
Can you rule out air in the fuel line? Is the full power output being achieved?
Does turning the air conditioning compressor on or off have any effect, or is the serpentine belt that drives the auxiliary components still running properly?
If everything is working, I would double-check that the PD elements are properly mounted and not loosely connected in the terminal block.
The timing belt tension and tensioner(s) are also okay, and don't forget to tighten the adjustment screws on the wheel of the second camshaft?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,
The problem has been solved.
I replaced the PPD again, so I can't pinpoint the exact cause. The connector on the element looked different from the others, which led me to take that step.
Attached is the log containing the values from what appears to be a normally running engine.
But I have one more question: Which adjustment screw? The manual doesn't mention anything about it, and I didn't have to loosen any screws when disassembling it.
Best regards,
Phillip Graf.
PS: Is it okay to mention the name of the company that provided the working part, as a tip for others who might be looking for a solution?

Hello,
The camshaft gears are rotatably attached to the camshaft and secured with 3 adjustment screws.
Yes.
Best regards, Rainer.

Thank you.
The refurbished component was from Dieseltechnik Biberach.
