A new diagnostic cable, the HEX-V2, is now available for VCDS.
The HEX-V2 is required for vehicles from the 2018 model year and newer.
In VCDS, the following message will then appear: Please purchase a current Ross-Tech diagnostic interface.
It replaces the previous HEX-USB+CAN hardware. While the HEX-USB+CAN can be used with an unlimited number of vehicle identification numbers (VINs), the HEX-V2, like the HEX-NET, is available with different licensing options.
- For 3 vehicle identification numbers (VINs).
- For 10 vehicle identification numbers (VINs).
- Unlimited, workshop version.
More information about the HEX-V2:

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello, the new HEX-V2 arrived at my place today, super fast delivery.
I immediately read and cleared the error memory of the car, and then I saw the following...
Remaining applications: 14 (previously it was 15).
What does that mean?!
Best regards,
Ben.

Hi Ben,
The counter "remaining uses" indicates how many times the HEX-V2 diagnostic interface (also applies to HEX-NET) can be used before it needs to be registered with Ross-Tech.
The corresponding tool (VCIConfig.exe) should automatically appear when the "remaining applications" count drops to 0. If you anticipate being offline later, you can configure it this way from the beginning.
1. Connect the HEX-V2 (or HEX-NET) interface to the computer with internet access and start the program VCIConfig.exe (located in C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS-DRV).
2. Open the registration tab in VCIConfig.exe, fill in the fields, and submit.
3. You will receive a code from Ross-Tech via email to complete the registration process.
I would have preferred it to be done like with the GS-911 Wifi... but okay, everything is in progress, and I'm sure something will still be changed. The registration process only needs to be completed once.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer.
I also completed the registration process.
However, for me, the "remaining applications" still persist...
I restarted the software and updated the interface.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for your help.
Patrick.

Hello Rainer,
I have registered the interface, but the "remaining applications" still appear.
I restarted the software and also updated the interface.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks & Regards,
Torsten.

Hi,
It's possible that setting the corresponding code in the interface using VCIConfig.exe didn't work correctly. Please try it again.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,
It doesn't change any of the values in the interface. Presumably, it would have been enough to click the "Connection Test" button with the interface to update the displayed interface values...
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello.
I'm currently still using a HEX-CAN-USB interface, and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the HEX-V2 soon.
I recently read somewhere that the new HEX-V2, like the HEX-NET, does not work with VCP (VirtualCom Port) drivers and with the Intelligent Boot Mode disabled.
Okay, here's the translation:
"Now, my question is, can I no longer use the HEX-V2 with software like Subaru Free SSM?" If so, does the KOBDCheck cable support software like Free SSM?
Thank you for the clarification.

Hi,
Vehicles that use the K-Line diagnostic protocol (for which a virtual COM port is typically used) are almost exclusively classic cars.
An old-school K-line cable for specialized purposes like FreeSSM doesn't really cost that much.
"No one needs that for modern vehicles; most models from around 2004 onwards already use CAN."
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
I own the VCDS Pro diagnostic system with KKL-CAN interface.
Is it worth switching? What are the differences compared to my current one?
Best regards,

Can I ask a silly question: Until which vehicle production years can I use the HEX CAN USB?
Is there an overview available somewhere?

Okay, so everything up to 2017. I wasn't sure whether the manufacturers would release the new models in different years.
Thank you very much!
