Hi everyone,

Does anyone else have any ideas about what else I could check without putting in too much effort?

I've been experiencing coolant loss for quite some time now...

'I've already replaced the flanges that connect to the heat exchanger, as the seals were leaking. I also replaced the radiator, which had a crack on the side, and the seal on the coolant flange on the engine. However, there is still a coolant leak, although it's not as severe as before.'

- No oil in the water.
- No water in the oil.
- No white smoke.
- Starts well in both cold and warm conditions.
- no noticeable loss of performance.
- The water pump does not appear to be leaking from the top.

I've added UV dye to the coolant so I can more easily find any leaks. Last time I pressure tested it for about 30 minutes while it was warm, and the level didn't drop... I haven't done a CO test yet, but I'm not sure if that would help me distinguish whether the leak is coming from the cylinder head or, for example, the EGR cooler?

Regarding the car, a Volkswagen Golf 5, manufactured in late 2004, with a 2.0 TDI BKD engine, and approximately 305,000 kilometers (almost 190,000 miles) on the odometer.

Regards,
Tom.

"With BKD engines, the cylinder heads often fail. To diagnose this, warm up the engine, remove the intake manifold, and then apply pressure to the system while checking the first cylinder to see if there is water present in front of the intake valves."

Okay, thanks! I'll rent a stage again sometime. I was hoping that after a certain number of miles, this issue wouldn't happen anymore, and that it would be more noticeable.

"Does it need a stage? The BKD engine has the intake manifold at the front, or am I mistaken?"

No, that's fine, the BKD has it in the front. I haven't used anything myself to put pressure on the cooling system yet, but I can use that there.

I think this topic can be closed, thank you!

I warmed it up properly again and held the trigger for longer this time, and this time the pressure released, and I noticed it when I started it.
