Sebang Battery Coding: How To & Guide

Hi there,
The battery in our 4-year-old Golf unexpectedly failed, requiring a jump start. However, after driving for an hour yesterday, it seemed to be working normally again today.
The battery installed is shown in the attached image. However, according to the diagnostic interface, it's coded as "JCB." Does this match with "Sebang"?

Hello, the first batteries installed in a vehicle are usually not coded or have a standard coding. I've replaced several SEBANG batteries under manufacturer warranty over the past two years. Also, Moll batteries had issues for a certain period of time. Is there a 5-year warranty available?

The battery type and capacity match. What manufacturer code do you enter for a Sebang battery? The VCDS diagnostic interface doesn't have a drop-down menu for this.

I'm sorry, I don't have the manufacturer code memorized right now; I would need to look it up for you at the company on Wednesday. However, the manufacturer is not important for the vehicle itself (only for warranty purposes). What's important is the type and capacity. Also, when you register a new battery, you can change the serial number (the last 10 digits, or simply enter "1111111112").

Thank you . I still hope it was just a fluke. I only had the Golf in the garage for an oil change and to check the fuel injection correction values and DPF status, and to find the reason for frequent high idle speeds.
It probably ran for about an hour on battery power. The next few days will tell. I doubt there's any warranty left from Volkswagen after four years.
I haven't found any status information regarding the increased idle speed, even in the advanced measurement data. I suspect it might be related to battery charging; it's not regeneration.

VCDS offers a drop-down list for battery manufacturers for my A4, but Sebang isn't listed there either.
Back to the Golf - in the extended measurement data for the diagnostic interface, you can find battery and generator data. Currently, the battery is supposed to be charged to 73%. When considering the vehicle's power consumption, especially with features like seat heating enabled, there is little power left over for charging.

And finally: The battery was replaced due to another failure and a very low remaining charge capacity.
Notably, the on-board network was charging with a voltage of up to 15V, and there had been repeatedly increased rotational speed for some time, presumably related to the charging process.
Perhaps a separate thread for that.
