Battery drained due to a faulty or incorrectly configured tailgate lock.

Cause.
Battery discharge caused by pre-existing damage, defects, active consumers, or leakage currents.


Solution:
If a defective or improperly adjusted tailgate lock is identified as the cause of a fault or discharge of the starter battery, please perform the following checks:

A faulty or improperly adjusted tailgate lock can cause the trunk light to remain on for a short period after the tailgate is closed.
However, after 10 to 15 minutes, the trunk light is automatically turned off by the central locking control unit.
Please verify that the emergency shutdown function is working correctly.
If the emergency shut-off function is working correctly, then the tailgate lock cannot be the cause of the discharged or defective battery.
