Were there AFN models with a shut-off valve?

Hi,

The AFN engine was fitted with both 028 and 038 engine control units (ECUs) because it was used in the Passat 3B for a long period.

Did it also come with a bypass valve, meaning the attached EGR unit, and with the 038 intake manifold, which has the threads for the EGR unit?

I am not aware of any AFN engines with a bypass valve. AHF and ASV engines have a pneumatically controlled bypass valve, as did early PD-TDI engines. Later PD-TDI and CR-TDI engines have an electric throttle valve.
