Dear Community,

I have a Polo 9N3 from 2007 with 194,000 km, engine code BMS, and a peculiar fault pattern where the vehicle has effectively 0% power for a period of time (ranging from 1-2 seconds to up to a minute). This happens intermittently and is back to normal within a second, allowing for normal driving. The error code helps to pinpoint the problem: the exhaust gas sensor before the turbocharger is not functioning correctly.
A diagnostic test confirms a short circuit to ground for G235 with a 930°C exhaust temperature under "active" error conditions, both during operation and at idle, as well as with otherwise random and implausible values.

In the repair manual for the BMS motor, I unfortunately only see an exploded diagram and no larger textual instructions for replacing the G235.

Since I don't have permanent access to a lift: Does anyone happen to know if the G235 can be replaced without removing the turbo/DPF?

die Temperatursensoren sollten sich ohne Turboladerausbau wechseln lassen .

Hallo, der Sensor lässt sich von unten durch den "Getriebetunnel" recht gut tauschen. Von oben nach meiner Ansicht allerdings unmöglich. Ein Ausbau des Turbolader ist nicht notwendig.

Hallo zusammen,

ich kann berichten, dass der Sensortausch durch den Getriebetunnel geklappt hat.
Jetzt liefert der Sensor plausible Werte. Der eigentliche Fehler (100% Leistungsverlust) tritt nun viel seltener auf, aber er ist noch vorhanden.
Leider habe ich das Phänomen noch nicht während neuer Messfahrten "erwischen" können, daher kann ich nicht sagen, ob nicht neben dem definitiv defekten Sensor nicht auch noch das Kabel zum MSG ein Problem hat (wäre eher ein sehr seltsamer Zufall) oder ob ich nach einem anderen Verursacher suchen muss.

Bei mir hatte ein Marder da herein gebissen... Deshalb bei Sensortausch gleichzeitig das Kabel prüfen.
