Hello,
has anyone information whether Common Rail engines of the 2010s + years can handle XTL and HVO fuels?
Starting in 2021, there is a clearance, have they made any changes or are the engine (almost) the same?
Thank you, Greetings |

It's likely not just about the engine components, but about the overall materials used. I only remember the swelling of the VEP seals at PÖL.

In other countries, such fuels have been available for many years. I don't believe that, for example, in Scandinavia, people will only start using HVO to fuel their VW vehicles starting from the 2021 model year, because the fuel was already available before.
Many manufacturers do not approve older engines for use, even if they can handle fuel properly, due to liability concerns. |
