VCDS HEX-NET: LED Colors and Their Meaning – Quick Explanation of Status Indicator
The VCDS HEX-NET has three LEDs that indicate the status of the diagnostic interface. These are: the vehicle LED (slightly offset to the left), the Wi-Fi LED (in the center), and the CPU LED (on the right). The correct interpretation of the HEX-NET LED colors enables quick error analysis and simplifies troubleshooting.
A
green vehicle-LED indicates that the ignition and K-line are working correctly. If the vehicle-LED
flashes red or remains off, there is a short circuit on the K-line, and a warning sound will be emitted. If the vehicle-LED
flashes red/
green, active communication with the vehicle is taking place. If the vehicle's LED is off, it indicates that there is no power or connection.
The CPU LED indicates normal CPU activity with
green blinking, while a constant
red indicates high CPU utilization. The CPU LED
blinks blue
, indicating that the HEX-NET supports the modern DoIP (Diagnostics over IP) mode.
The Wi-Fi LED is orange
when the HEX-NET is in access point mode. A red blinking light
indicates that a connection to the Wi-Fi network is being sought. A green LED
indicates a successful network connection.
If all the LEDs are
red, the HEX-NET transmits data to the flash memory – during this phase, no power interruption is allowed.
