Hello everyone,
Today, instead of asking for help, I want to share my insights.
After experiencing the same problem and finding the same solution in three different vehicles, I feel confident enough to say that I'm starting to recognize a pattern.
Let's just say that the first time this happened, it took an odyssey of time and money to understand and fix the problem.
This applies to all hybrid vehicles from the Volkswagen Group (VAG) that are equipped with a hybrid powertrain and a DQ400 six-speed transmission.
First, let's discuss the error symptoms.
Sometime between 180,000 km and 250,000 km, the error 30097 - Transmission pressure P0867 begins to appear sporadically.
The result is a reduction in power, a speed limiter set at 3000 RPM, and error messages on the display related to the transmission and hybrid system.
In the first few weeks, the error usually disappears after a restart.
If you ignore the problem for too long, or if a sudden drop in temperature occurs, the fault will become permanent, and in the worst-case scenario, the vehicle will neither start nor be able to be driven electrically.
In this case, VW is offering either a new transmission for €17,000 or, if they are willing, a new mechatronic unit including the control unit for approximately €6,000. In both cases, the error has been permanently fixed.
In most cases, however, this is no longer a cost-effective repair due to the mileage of the vehicles.
When people try to fix it themselves, through independent workshops or specialized transmission shops, the suspicion often falls on the pressure sensor of the primary high-pressure circuit. You can also tell because they sell like hotcakes. If, like me with my first car, you have the pressure sensor replaced, or, like a friend of mine, you even have a new control unit installed by a transmission specialist, and the problem still persists, you get closer to the truth.
Okay, here's the translation:
"I'll keep it short. The DQ400 transmission has two oil filters." There's a large main filter located at the top of the transmission housing, and a smaller one inside the mechatronic unit.
The actual cause of the error message is that clutch wear clogs the small filter in the mechatronic unit, preventing the pump from drawing in enough flow to maintain the pressure.
This happens even when, as with both of my vehicles, all service intervals have been followed, because (now here's the thing) the main filter is NOT replaced during the DSG oil change. It is only accessible with the engine and transmission removed, and it should only be replaced if glitter or coolant is found in the DSG transmission oil during a transmission oil change.
If you happen to have this issue, don't waste thousands of euros or dozens of hours; instead, order the internal filter from the Mechatronics department for €16 and set aside a full day to replace it.
Ideally, you should order a complete rebuild kit from your chosen transmission specialist, including all seals and the intermediate plate, because you'll have everything you need on hand, and according to the manufacturer, all seals should be replaced anyway.
I hope I don't have to emphasize the importance of absolute cleanliness when working on disassembled mechatronic components. Please remember to flush the three small check valves in the manifold body first in the closed direction, then in the open direction, using a suitable spray (not brake cleaner). It often contains clutch dust.
Currently, I can complete the setup in 7 hours, including initial adjustments and a calibration run.
I hope you never find yourself in a situation where you need this advice.
Best regards,
Bo.

I received feedback that the pressure sensor is actually a more common cause of the problem than my post suggests. Thank you for that.
Here's the translation:
"Does anyone know if the error is usually caused by an electronic issue, or could the sensor also be affected by fine clutch dust, and could it be cleaned with appropriate methods through the opening?"
