T4 111kW jerks/stalls

Hello diesel mechanics,

Unfortunately, we're having a problem with our T4, engine AHY. Occasionally, the car jerks or completely stops running. This happens when we try to accelerate and give it full throttle at around 2000 rpm. It's much worse when we're towing a caravan, and it can also happen during normal driving. The first time it happened, the engine had absolutely no torque but continued to run at around 1300 rpm. It didn't respond to the accelerator at all! We simply turned off the ignition and restarted it, and it started working again. The last time, I quickly turned the ignition off and on while driving. Then it was okay again, but it triggered error code 18047. Otherwise, there are no other errors, and apparently, relay 109 is not the problem either.

It would be very kind if someone could help us with this!

Okay, that's already a clue as to the cause...


Then it was working again, but it caused error 18047. Otherwise, there are no other errors, and apparently, relay 109 is not the problem either.


and THAT gives you the certainty...

Error code: 18047
Accelerator pedal position sensor (G79) - implausible signal.

Possible causes:
G79 is defective.

Possible consequences:
increased idle speed


The search function would have told you that too if you had searched for '18047'...

-> Check the accelerator pedal and its wiring!
