Hello,
I bought a Speed-Buster tuning box on eBay for my...
Passat TDI 110 hp, 8-pin, auctioned.
Since the seller no longer has the instructions, I have the following questions:
Installation is not a problem .
This is a Speed-Buster 8-pin TDI interface box.
(Note on the box: Copyright 1997-1998, for 1.9 - 2.5 TDI engines with 1Z AFN engine.)
with two potentiometers.
1. Main question: what do P1, P2 do, and how far do I need to rotate them?
Rotate counter-clockwise to 'zero' until you hear a 'click,' and then what?
2. Question: How do I use the external cable?
The cable has two boxes (they look exactly like the tuning boxes).
mit jeweils 2-mal 8-PINs. See image.
Thank you very much for your help!
I am grateful for any advice you can offer.
Best regards,
Torsten.

Hello Torsten,
Why don't you contact the seller of the box?
Okay, I just saw that he doesn't have the installation instructions anymore.
Assumption: one cable connects to the output voltage of the mass airflow sensor (MAF).
A potentiometer is used to adjust the start point of the power boost based on the HFM signal.
The other one adjusts the amount of performance gain.
"Practice makes perfect..."
Best regards, Rainer.

I guess you're talking about that long cable!

In other forums, I've been waiting for weeks for responses.
bei Euch bekomme ich alles in wenigen Minuten! Great!
1.
One potentiometer is used to adjust the start point of the power increase, depending on the HFM signal. The other potentiometer adjusts the amount of power increase.
I understand.
2.
One cable connects to the output voltage of the mass airflow sensor (MAF).
I initially suspected it was, but it's just a 'loop,' and the cable goes directly.
Put it back in the box, how am I supposed to get it in there?
3.
I guess you mean that long cable! 'Yes'
'In my opinion, it's designed so that the device can be adjusted inside the car during a test drive.'
OK, but I always thought this box contained resistors, meaning:
On one side, electricity comes in, and on the other side, 'different' electricity comes out.
With that cable, I could only:
Plug a 'Module 1' into the wiring harness, then run the long cable to the interior and connect the tuning box to 'Module 2' there, but that only provides power on one side; am I missing a cable?
Thank you very much for your help!
Best regards,
Torsten.

Okay, a friend of mine has a similar device (unfortunately, without instructions), and it came with two cables! Nothing was added to the device, as the user was satisfied with the performance increase and the smoke output.
Take a look at www.speed-buster.de. They might be able to help you there!

Hello Jörg,
So, a friend has a similar device (unfortunately, also without instructions), and it came with 2 cables! Nothing was added to the box, because people were satisfied with the performance increase and the smoke behavior!!
I think that the second cable forms a bridge from the still free end of the tuning box to the free end of the 'adapter box.'
Closed loop, can anyone tell me if I'm correct with this assumption?
Check out www.speed-buster.de, maybe they can help you there!
'Speed-Buster has already been very helpful, quote:'
We assume that they did not purchase their speed-buster electronics directly from us.
Please send us a proof of purchase (copy of the invoice, warranty certificate, etc.) in advance.
Great, since I don't have these documents, I won't be able to get any information from Speed-Buster. Very nice, that's what I call customer service!
Adjusting the potentiometers is proving to be more difficult than expected. When the unit is removed, it's not a problem. However, when the box is connected to the wiring harness, I can't reach the small screws because a metal bracket is in the way. Removing the box with a hot engine is also not easy, as a coolant hose runs parallel to the wiring harness, and everything gets very hot, so it will probably take some time to adjust the box.
Can someone tell me what happens to this 'loop'?}
Thank you very much for your help!
Best regards,
Torsten.

Hello DIY enthusiasts,
If your device was already installed and working properly, the cable loop is probably for a different purpose, because otherwise something would have been cut. Also, for the HFM signal, only one cable is actually necessary.
A switch to deactivate the device could be considered.
They're all just guesses, but if it worked on the previous one without changing anything about the cable routing, it should work for you too, right?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
That's exactly my problem; with the box installed, my car doesn't perform any better than it did before.
I hope something will happen when I adjust something on the device.
Starting today, I have time and will dedicate myself to the Potis. Success will come immediately.
Here into the board.
Best regards,
Torsten.
