Hello,
My diesel engine runs roughly when it's still cold. (1.9 TDI 1Z, manufactured in 1993, Audi 80 B4).
I suspect that the coolant temperature sensor is not providing the correct values to the engine control unit. It's likely the sensor with four terminals, located on the engine towards the injection nozzle.
"Can anyone tell me the resistance values when the engine is cold and when it's at operating temperature?"
I couldn't find anything about it in the standard repair manuals.
Thank you for any constructive feedback.
Best regards, Hans.

Hello,
Have you checked the values using a diagnostic system? It will immediately show you which values are being sent to the engine control unit (ECU).
Target values:
243 at -20°C.
226 at 0°C.
196 at 20°C.
134 at 50°C.
94 at 70°C.
62 at 90°C.

Hello Michael II,
First of all, thank you for your quick response, but I must inform you that I do not have access to a diagnostic device.
Bye.
Hans.
