'Is it possible to modify the heating system? I have the 1Z engine, and I want it to warm up faster. Could it be that the 1Z only has one glow plug in the heater? Would it be possible to install a three-glow-plug heater?'

Best regards, WarLord.

To the best of my knowledge, every 1Z has 3 candles. Use the search function, and you'll find a lot of information on the topic!

Well, I found a few things. I thought I only saw one when I last inspected my 1Z, but it could have been something else.

Best regards, WarLord.

Do you want to increase the temperature of the coolant so that your engine warms up faster?
Why is that?
Alternatively, installing a standing heater can help pre-warm the vehicle for you.

Do you want to heat the coolant more strongly so that your engine warms up faster?
Why is that?
Alternatively, installing a standing heater can help, as it will pre-warm the vehicle for you.

or by installing an 'immersion heater'.

@x world one

It's actually quite simple: The engine warms up faster, my heating system heats up faster, and the engine consumes less fuel during the warm-up phase.

Best regards, WarLord.

Okay, that's understandable. But I can't really complain about my 1Z. The heating is much better than in my old 16V gasoline car, and the engine warms up just as quickly.
Regarding fuel consumption, there are hardly any differences between warm and cold conditions for diesel engines, at least not as significant as for gasoline engines. Also, the emissions are not much higher than with a warm engine; in this case too, a cold gasoline engine emits more pollutants than a warm one.

But if you really want faster heating, I would personally install a standing heater that also pre-warms the engine.

Hello,

... but there was definitely something not right with your old car.
The low heating power of the TDI can be quite annoying.

Really? Hmm, as I said, I'm starting my drive here early in the morning at 5°C wearing just a t-shirt, because I have to turn the heating down after about 5 minutes. But we'll see, I haven't driven the TDI yet in the winter, so it will have to prove itself then.

Okay, so my 1Z engine has 3 spark plugs. What I saw last time was probably the oil pressure switch. *g*

'I would also be interested in a modified heating system. I have an Audi A4 2.5 TDI, and despite many attempts, I haven't been able to install a standard parking heater. Has anyone experimented with this and found a way to use the three glow plugs in a different way?'

Regards,

I would also be interested in such a 'modified' heating system, as I have an A4 2.5 TDI, and despite many attempts, I simply can't fit a standard auxiliary heater in it.

Sure? Isn't there space in the fender? (For example, it's located there in the Golf and Octavia.)

Cu Gremlin.
