hello,
Does anyone have an idea on how to integrate external audio signals (e.g., from an external navigation system) into the Beta unit so that they can be heard while the radio is playing?

It's practically impossible with the Beta version...

However, there is a switch for the speaker outputs.
I still have one from my old radio that didn't have a mute function.

As soon as a call came in on the phone, the speaker inputs were disabled, and internally, the signal from the hands-free equipment (HFP) was routed from the 3.5mm jack to the speaker outputs.
Unfortunately, it only supports the front two channels. (However, you can switch to the rear channels depending on your intended use.)

'Meanwhile, I've connected a separate speaker to my hands-free system, and my radio mutes itself through the 'mute' input.'
The solution using the AUX input on the Pioneer would have been too expensive and pointless, as I only rarely make phone calls in the car... (It would always have required manual switching).

That would actually be ideal for voice output from the navigation system!
If available, you'll continue to hear the radio through the rear speakers, while the front speakers briefly tell you where you want to go, after which the radio will resume playing.

If you're interested in the small box, just let me know!
I was thinking of 20 euros including shipping.
Trying and testing is not a problem; we will definitely find an agreement! icon_smile.gif

I'd like to thank you (perhaps a little late?) for your responses to my question. By 'audio input,' I meant a Line In connection, because the output signal from the PDA is quite weak (headphone output). You can't directly connect a speaker to that. Since the volume of the PDA is just barely sufficient, I didn't want to invest too much money. I might try the phone input option sometime. However, it might take some time. If I have a positive result, I will report back here. By the way, this is for a Beta in a Passat manufactured in August 2003.
