hi!

I'm very interested in following your discussions and experiences with the larger nozzles. You've made me so eager now; I WANT TO EXCHANGE THEM TOO. But I'm a beginner and have no idea how. I know where they are located, but I've never exchanged the nozzles before. I've chosen two numbers here: from AXG Motor (074 130 201 t) and (074 130 202 r). Are these the correct nozzles? And how do I exchange them? I've read that you have to pay attention to the position of the nozzles when you screw them in, and that you should also replace some copper plates. icon_biggrin.gif What kind of position are we talking about? What else do I need to replace? I'm afraid of doing something wrong and damaging the engine. I now have an auxiliary box before the pump, and this unit is producing a lot of soot; I would like to get rid of that with the new nozzles. Thank you in advance for your answers.
look, Chris.

search: fuel injectors
That probably contains most of the information.
"Nuts with an M14x1.5 thread for use with nozzles are not exactly a common item you'll find at hardware stores. However, they are often used to attach shock absorbers to the strut mount. I had quite a few of them in a box."

If you really have no idea what you're doing, I would recommend having them replaced by a Bosch service center. It doesn't take forever, so it probably won't be too expensive.

And at least then the guys know what they're doing. If you happen to get dirt into the engine or install them incorrectly, the engine can quickly be damaged. So I would say: invest those estimated 50 euros and have it done professionally.

If not, then use the search function, as several people have already written about proper cleaning and replacement.

-Private

Invest the estimated 50 Euros and just do it.

Good tip, but they won't work for half an hour for €50... it doesn't go that fast. icon_wink.gif

Well... it's actually quite quick to do. We took about three-quarters of an hour last week. I would recommend getting it done if you don't have much experience with it yourself. That way, at least you can drive with peace of mind.

Hi,
I just finished that myself. Time is running out. Of course, that's only if you're lucky and all the nozzles come loose easily, and the little sealing rings stay stuck to them.
But what's really the big deal? The nozzle holders aren't fixed 100% by the claws, but there isn't much play. If it were that critical, surely someone would have come up with a more precise solution. Of course, you shouldn't install them upside down (180 degrees), as that will cause problems.

Ulf once wrote a short note about it; apparently, one of the nozzles wasn't perfectly aligned within its holder, which caused a strange noise. I made sure everything was precisely aligned on my end and haven't had any problems.

Hi,

The injectors have some play within this bracket/holder. If the nozzles are not centered correctly, this can easily affect the combustion noise. If the nozzle is properly seated, the engine sounds a bit smoother.

Greetings.
Thomas.

Hi,
I mounted it in the middle based on my feeling, but I'm not sure if that was actually the center.

Hi,

I always do it based on my feeling too, and I'm sure that it's not 100% accurate. At VW, they don't pay any attention to that at all. They just put the parts in, tighten them, and that's it. They don't care whether they are centered or positioned correctly in any way.

Greetings.
Thomas.

As I said, I only felt like the engine was running a little bit "better."

Well, what do you mean by 'feeling'? You can still see a gap of about 0.5mm between the nozzle sides and the guide. I shone a flashlight on it and could immediately see whether they were perfectly centered or just relatively centered. Then I adjusted them with a size 15 screwdriver, I think. Whether it made a difference... I think so.

But you're right. The VW technician I consulted with when I was replacing the injectors just said it didn't matter and that they wouldn't pay attention to it. Just tighten them properly and that's it.

Thank you for your replies. I searched the forum again and found some helpful tips. I will have a friend help me replace the nozzles.

Are you sure that centering method will work? I tried it too and tightened them to the specified torque, but when I tightened the sprinkler line, the alignment went off again.

Greetings.
January.

Hello Jan!

You'll need to use a wrench on the nozzle holder to prevent it from twisting while tightening the union nut of the injector line.
"Only the DHK models with NBF might present problems, as there isn't an accessible key area (as far as I remember)."

I held onto the NHG with pliers icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif.

I tried to keep it as gentle as possible while the technician tightened the locking nut with... I believe it was 25 Nm of torque.
