Hey fellow mechanics,

My wife's Golf 4 TDI with engine code AXR was just taken for its first (long-life) service at the dealership, and it has 33,800 km (almost 2 years old).
There, it was determined that the transmission oil level was not okay, and half a liter of oil was added. icon_eek.gif
Could that be the case? Did VW perhaps put too little oil in at the factory? Or is the car now even running with too much oil in the transmission? Is this harmful or disadvantageous (increased fuel consumption)? icon_question.gif
The workshop did not report any leaks or similar issues.

What is your opinion on that?

Greetings.

Eike.

Hi Eike,

My A3 was also skimped on. icon_confused.gif I also had to top up quite a bit until the inspection opening.
Too much oil isn't good either, firstly because it increases fuel consumption, and secondly, it will eventually leak out somewhere.

Best regards, Rainer.
