I just bought this diesel additive that's supposed to verschandeln the injectors (since I'm already dealing with the knocking and the smell, and I don't have anything to lose). Now the question: Should I really connect the ESP intake hose to the container with the additive, or would it be better to just pour it into the fuel tank (with the diesel)? Sure, here's the translation:
'This is about Wyn's diesel additive (in that general category).'
Best regards, WarLord. |

Hi,
I did that using the STP diesel fuel injector cleaner. I disconnected the intake hose after the fuel filter, poured the cleaner directly into the intake manifold, let the engine run until it stalled, reconnected the hose, poured the rest of the cleaner into the fuel tank, and let it sit overnight. The next day, it started up again with a little coaxing. Since then, the exhaust smells different. Perhaps it's just an illusion.

Perhaps the pump might not run dry. That's never good for the material. Stop it a little earlier and put the rest into the tank. |

If you attach the inlet and outlet hoses to the bottle, you can run the motor for about half an hour. After that, reattach the hoses to the filter and let it sit overnight. Then, the next morning, it will start up again without any problems, and the remaining fuel in the pump will mix with the diesel in the tank.

Hermann. |

Okay, thanks for letting me know. Well, next time I'll make sure to connect all the hoses to the container. There was a huge mess (it came out of the filter on the inlet side and flooded the whole thing), and the engine stalled because it ran out of fuel. If it turns out to be useful, I'll post it here; if not, I'll still post it here. *g* By the way: Is it normal for it to contain kerosene?

Why not? It's petroleum, after all. "Jettreibstoff" simply sounds much better than "lamp oil." Gruß Christian

Well, I'm not sure if it really has that cleansing effect. I'm not entirely convinced about this 'diesel additive' yet.

Hi.
I tried it in my TDI two months ago. I let it run for half an hour and left it overnight. Nothing changed (or the pump was still verschandeln after 135,000 km). It probably only frees the wallet from unnecessary small change .

Hermann. |

I kind of think so too, because my exhaust was still smelling bad this evening. Well, I guess I'll have to get my ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection checked (they might have come loose and gotten twisted somehow, you never know).
