Can anyone tell me how fuel consumption is determined in the MFA (Multifunction Display)?
There's certainly no such thing as a simple flow meter.
Does the increased energy consumption due to the air conditioning system include that in the calculation?
Best regards,
Rainer

Hi Rainer,
I drive a Golf 4 TDI with 90 horsepower and MFA (Multi Function Display). The MFA fuel consumption display reacts to additional consumers such as the air conditioning or powerful electrical devices like lights, rear window heater, etc.
This becomes visible when the engine is idling and then displays the consumption per hour. With a warm engine and no other consumers running, this is typically 0.4-0.5 liters per hour, and can be increased to approximately 0.7-0.8 liters per hour by activating the air conditioning, lights, seat heaters, rear window heater, etc.
I believe that the displayed consumption is calculated from the engine data (revolutions per minute, pump control, etc.).
Regards,
Eike.

Hello,
The engine control unit (ECU) contains information about the amount of fuel injected per cylinder per cycle, measured in milligrams.
This calculation determines the consumption. Tschüss

Hi Rainer,
Your question surprises me a bit...
The computer receives all the input values it needs for the calculation: speed from the speedometer, engine speed, and fuel injection amount from the engine control unit.
The amount of energy consumed per kilowatt-hour (kWh) is determined based on the (reported!) position of the standard power source. Therefore, power boosters and similar devices can reduce the displayed energy consumption. Gruß Ulf
