performance deficiency

Hi,
I'm just not making any progress. I've already tried to address the expert contributions as best as I can, and I've also used the search function, but I haven't found a definitive answer.

my problem:
no performance across the entire RPM range. Smokes heavily (more bluish) when accelerating.
something irregular and empty ticking/hammering sound coming from the engine compartment. not very loud.
error detected. needle hub defective. short circuit after interruption.
new NHG installed. Read again. Error saved again. NHG defective. I checked for cracks or other issues in the lines. Nothing. I checked the vacuum hoses. Nothing.
New air filter installed. Fuel filter also installed. No air bubbles.

I've reached the end of my knowledge. I have no idea what I can do next. I'm just repeating myself at the moment.

oh, the scrap car is a Sharan. MKB AHU (allegedly robust and reliable engine. may be if it runs) 140,000 km mileage.

how do I translate 'I checked the cables for breaks or other damage'? a cable break is not visible externally. you need to use a continuity tester! it can't be that the error isn't recorded if it is!

Your engine's problem could also be due to insufficient load pressure! What does the load pressure value show when you read it out using the VAG-COM? What about the air mass values?

I would like to get a wiring diagram for the Sharan and then use a continuity tester to 'test' the connections from the NHG to the STG. If those are okay, then I will check the other things. It's also possible that your STG is faulty.

I know my answer is very imprecise. Just like the question!

wenn der fehlereintrag wegens des nhg nicht weggeht, dann 'klingel' bitte zuerst den kabelbaum zum stg durch !
ansonsten gibt es von michaelII eine sehr sehr gute aufstellung der soll-werte auch für deinen motor. an hand dessen kannst du selbst sehr gut erkennen woran es liegen könnte !
