Hello,

Currently, I'm frequently experiencing an issue with my A6 where the engine starts briefly (for about 1 second) and then shuts off again. The yellow immobilizer light is flashing. Today, I drove to a supermarket about 10 km away, and unfortunately, I couldn't move my A6 from the parking lot. I then found a great tip from 'Privatbereich' using the search function:

Hello,

You will need the four-digit secret code located on the keychain.

- Turn on the ignition.
- Simultaneously, pull the hour setting knob and press the trip reset button.
- The display should now show '0 0 0 0'. The first digit is blinking.
- Press the 'reset' button repeatedly until the first digit matches the secret number.
- Pull out the setting knob on the clock and enter the next value.
- Has the last value also been entered? If so, simultaneously pull the setting knob for the clock and press the reset button for the trip odometer.
- The indicator light for the parking brake must now be illuminated.
- Turn off the ignition.

The engine should now be able to be started again.

So far so good, everything worked perfectly, but now the immobilizer symbol is also illuminated during the drive. Does anyone know a solution?

Thank you.

'It's probably the chip for the immobilizer in your key that's broken... That symbol might mean that the immobilizer is currently deactivated, but I'm not entirely sure.'

Of course, I immediately tried all the keys, but unfortunately, they all resulted in the same outcome.
Could it be that I've just 'bridged' something here?

Perhaps the reading device is faulty.

Best regards, WarLord.

What you did was disable the WFS. It should still be fixed eventually...

Great.

How can I reactivate it?

You're right, that should definitely be repaired. But what exactly needs to be repaired?

'Of course, I inquired after the first incident at the car dealership, but they can only take action if the problem occurs on their premises. Otherwise, the only thing they could do is replace all the parts (ECU, etc.). But who would pay for that?'

A friend suggested that reprogramming the device might potentially make a difference.
What do you think about it?

Best regards,

Hello Dantha,
... I discovered a great tip from 'Privatbereich' using the search function: ...
Thank you for the flowers, but the tip didn't come from me, but from Michael II. (here is the original post).

How can I reactivate them?
Michael II might also have something to say about this. Or, certainly, any Volkswagen dealership, as the solution should be documented in the ASLE system. I might be able to take a look at the weekend.

Regards,
-Private
